Shabbat Parshat Vaeira
Dvar Torah
In this weeks Parsha, Moshe appeals to G-d that his disabled speech will not be
heeded by Pharoh (Ex. 6:30) and he is answered that Aaron will serve beside him
as interpreter. Interestingly, Moshe had already cast doubt because of his
speech (Ex. 4:10, 6:12) first that G-d chose the wrong man and later assuming
futility in speaking before Pharoh. In the third instance however, it seems
Moshe is not doubting G-d’s wisdom in choosing him as leader or G-d’s plan for
redeeming Israel, he is merely asking for help in carrying out the duty he has
already accepted. This is perhaps to teach us that in service of G-d, as well
as in many other areas of life, we work as a team. It’s okay to ask for help,
and requests for help will be answered
Quote of the week (in the spirit of the Parsha)
“With us, anyone who doesn't believe in miracles isn't a realist”
