Corporate-Torah started as a weekly Dvar Torah I sent to a global group of Jewish colleagues. In the consulting firm I work at, we have an internal Jewish affinity group Slack channel, and the group manager asked if I would share a weekly Dvar Torah. I would look through the Parsha for an idea, spend some time shaping it for the audience, tack on some trivia + Shabbat times and send it out.
Surprisingly, this actually turned out to be quite the job. There's an idea I'm fond of quoting (apocryphally attributed to Twain) that "If I had more time I would have written you a shorter letter." Turns out that writing up a short concise idea that can catch 2' of corporate headspace is a challenge. Specifically, these Divrei Torah are carefully designed to resonate with the corporate audience:
- Short (~140-170 words)
- Accessible - Requires no previous Torah knowledge
- Universal - Typically focuses on Torah topics championed by all Jewish denominations (e.g. Gemilut Chasadim)
However, the prospect of spreading some Torah to a far-flung and diverse group makes it more than worth it week after week. After eight months of sending the Dvar Torah internally, I set up this blog in the hope that this content can be syndicated in other companies and spread a little bit more Torah ahead of each Shabbat.
The sole goal of this project is share Torah with as many people as possible. All of the text content on this site is released to the public domain, requires no attribution, and can be freely customized as needed. The graphics are all generated by OpenAI's GPT.
